Deathbarrel is Ottar Stangeland, perhaps better known as "The Fat Animal" in the Oi band Haggis who has, in time and beyond, made furore around scenes around the world.
Ottar has always been a rebel and what is more natural than creating a record of Outlaw Country songs, which must be the ultimate rebel music. With lyrics from a fierce and sometimes unreal life, Ottar managed to achieve cult status with Deathbarrel before anyone had ever heard a stanza of the material.
The album Merciless Winds is one of the finest published in the Sandnes / Stavanger district and is not without reason nominated as this year's album, along with Purified In Blood and Overthrow, by the newspaper Night and Day. What really matters here is that infinitely many people chose it as this year's plate at home in their own living rooms.
