Music For Dreams have been setting the quality benchmark for Balearic and downtempo music for decades, and this latest compilation finds the Copenhagen-based label in as fine a fettle as ever. It's something of the proverbial "game of two halves", admittedly: acoustic, downtempo and near-ambient moods dominate in the first half, and cuts like 'Drommer Om En Dag' and 'Poesia' will perhaps appeal most to specialist buyers. But things get a lot more rhythmic from around the halfway mark onwards, taking in lavish 70s-style disco from Santino Surfers, tropical/Latin vibes from Boogie Rookie & Whodamanny, surging prog from DJ Disse and driving house/acid from WALTHER & Boy George - while on 'Un Buen Sueno', DJ Pippi & Willie Graff invent a whole new musical cocktail that we're naming 'operatic dub" right now!
