Lick It Up is the eleventh Studio album by Kiss, released in 1983. On the day of the album's release, KISS appeared on MTV without makeup. This was the first public performance of Kiss without makeup since the band's early days. On the cover of the album, gene Simmons shows his trademark long tongue to convince everyone that this is really the same Kiss, only without makeup. Lick It Up went platinum on December 19, 1990.
