In the 1990s, in a large factory in the western suburbs of Tiecheng, Northeast China, the orphan Zhang Xiaoman (Huang Jingyu) became the affectionate and righteous "Son of Tiexi City" under the care of the factory's hundreds of families. Together with the steady and prudent Xia Lei (Wang Tianchen) and the generous and courageous Yan Xiaodan (Guan Xiaotong), they spent their passionate youth in Tiexi City.
