Why can't I make requests?

To request something, you first need to help another user. In practice, this means one of your answers must be marked as the "Best answer" by the person who created the request.

Because of this, we don't recommend replying to very old requests. The original poster may no longer be active and might never see your reply. If they don't mark your answer as the best one, it won't count.

Here's how it works:

  • Help someone with their request.
  • The user who created the request marks your reply as "Best answer."
  • The request is closed, and you unlock the ability to make 5 requests of your own.

That's basically the rule: help others first, and others will help you too.

While you're here, we recommend taking a moment to read the full community rules. It'll answer most of your questions and help you get the most out of SoftArchive!
